Inside High Performance

appling the six components of
world class mental strength

Whether you are involved in leadership, coaching, management, mentoring, sports or any task or behaviour, performance has three elements. Firstly you need to develop the technical skills and capabilities to perform consistently at your chosen level.  Secondly you need the mental strength and strategies to be able to use all your skills. And thirdly, you need to have the physical health and endurance to be able to use those skills when you need to.

Inside High Performance is about helping clients build the mental strength to make the most of, and further develop, their technical skills and physical wellbeing. This workshop explores six key NLP approaches which can be applied to help people develop world class mental strength.

Training Outcomes

What is covered?

The day explores six key areas of high performance:

strong desire

If you talk with anyone who has achieved a world class standard in what they do, their desire to succeed will shine through. They often describe how their preparation and training had a sense of purpose and they really wanted to perform to their potential. A strong motivation and desire helps you get the most from every moment.

  • Connect with motivation that lasts

focus on what matters

There are always parts of preparation, training and performance that will be within your influence, and some parts that are not. Worrying about what you can’t control wastes time and valuable energy. Instead of getting frustrated or delayed by poor weather, noise, distractions or equipment focus on what matters – your performance.

  • Know where to apply your energy

strategies for success

Most high performance strategies are unconscious, they run automatically and are the result of many hours of deliberate practice. The strategies people use at a world class level are usually different to the ones they used when first learning a skill. Take the time to refine your current strategies so that you are ready to cope with every eventuality in the best possible way.

  • Practice makes permanent

self belief

All world class performance and competition brings expectation and pressure both from yourself or others. A strong self belief gives you the capacity to commit to practice hard and perform well under challenging situations. When things go wrong, self belief helps you to refocus and deal with whatever comes up in a confident and controlled manner.

  • Adopt a can-do attitude

positive emotion

At any moment, your emotional state drives your behaviour – if you feel good you perform well and if you don’t feel good, your performance level drops. Your mind and body are linked and everything you do conveys messages about confidence, commitment, motivation and attitude. Your physiology affects your thinking processes and emotional states.

  • Use emotional maturity

learning mindset

Everything we do brings results and the ability to learn from your successes and failures will allow you to give yourself a break when things don’t go well and congratulate yourself when things are a triumph. Take time to reflect on your preparation, training and performance and take a break with family, friends and other interests to maintain a balanced outlook.
