Kendal
is a fabulous place to visit, whatever time of the year with a lively town and
easy access to the mountains and lakes. A short walk along the river and up
Kendal Castle provides stunning of the town and distant fells.
There is a very good website that covers the whole National Park area through which you can search for specifically Kendal and check availability for the dates you require - www.golakes.co.uk/accommodation
There are several options that I can suggest for accommodation, all with recommendations from previous participants on the training. Most of the events are held in the Riverside Hotel which is in the centre of Kendal and so any town centre hotel / B&B will be within about 15 minutes walk at most.
The hotel from which I run most of the events does offer discounted rates for those taking part in a training course. For more information contact the Riverside on +44 (1539) 734861, or www.riversidekendal.co.uk
One small hotel which has proved very popular with delegates looking for a little more luxury at the ‘upper mid-range’ price is Beech House, Telephone: 01539 720385
A couple of mid range B&B's that are close to the usual venue and have been very popular with returning delegates over a number of courses are Hillside Bed and Breakfast on 01539 722836 and Sonata Guesthouse on 01539 732290.
A very good value option is a B&B run by a good personal friend, Louise, which she calls “The Miniature B&B” – it’s a double room with en-suite shower and TV but there isn’t loads of space. It is very central and has it’s own entrance. Plus it guarantees a friendly face and is only £25 per night. Visit www.thetinybedandbreakfast.co.uk for more info. It’s about a 10 minute walk from the venue.
Another good value B&B option is provided by our friend Victoria. £25 per night will get you a comfy double bedroom in a character cottage with a bright light room, feature fireplace, use of a large shared bathroom with a freestanding bath, separate shower and a DIY breakfast. For further enquiries and to book email sewellvicky@hotmail.com or 07920 575261. Please note, guests must be non smokers and tolerant of the cat!
Kendal is full of options for self catering as well as are many of the outlying villages. In the town centre one well recommended option is on 45 Highgate with Kendal Apartments. Call 07543 817 924 or www.r-nd-r.com for more information.
There are lots of camping options further afield and into the National Park, however for those wanting to stay closer to Kendal the Kendal Camping and Caravanning Club Site is a popular option.
Hope that gives you somewhere to start, please feel free to ask
if you’d like anymore information.
I look forward to meeting you.
